SUSOR, John "Mahuffer" passed away Jan. 10, 2008, at the Bay Pines Veterans Hospital at the age of 88 years. A bar-owner for 35 years on Indian Shores Beach, John was known for his independent spirit and colorful personality. John served proudly in the US Army during WWII and was a life-long aerial enthusiast. As a community activist, John was instrumental in hurricane clean-up and building sea walls for neighbors up and down the beach. He also ran for mayor in the 1980's. He is survived by wife, Jutta; daughter, Lynn (Jeff) Rogacki; grandchildren, Sarah, Jill, and Mike; and nephew, Allen (Irene) Grimm and family.
